AGHOSH HOMES
The other arm of Alkhidmat’s overarching Orphan Care Program is its nationwide Aghosh Homes project that houses orphan children in modern, state-of-the-art, residential facilities where they are provided quality educational, recreational and health care opportunities. ‘Aghosh’ literally means a caring embrace in Urdu, symbolizing the love of a mother. Children in Aghosh Homes stay at a modern, purpose-built boarding facility where they are provided with food, clothing, healthcare, education and life-skills of the highest quality. There are 18 Aghosh Homes including one in Turkey for Syrian refugee kids. In Karachi, the first Aghosh Home was formally opened on August 20, 2021. The sponsorship for a child in Aghosh Homes is currently PKR 20,000 per month.
