Earthquake 2015


An earthquake of 8.1 magnitudes emanating from Hindu Kush mountain range had hit major cities of Pakistan including Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Quetta, Kohat, Malakand and other Northern areas of Pakistan on 26th October 2015. More than 270 deaths were reported from Chitral, Dir Lower, Dir Upper, Buner, Swat, Bajaur Agency, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kallar Kahar, Sargodha, Landi Kotal and Kasur.

More than 1882 were reported injured during the initial assessments while the numbers were continuously increasing. The extent of damage seemed to very high but was not known fully because of severe damages to infrastructure while means of communication had also been disrupted by the earthquake.

AlKhidmat spread all across Pakistan

Al-Khidmat’s Response:

Al-Khidmat Karachi’s team started the relief activates soon after the earthquake struck the affected areas. President Al-Khidmat immediately instructed volunteers and response teams to help the victims. Al-Khidmat volunteers started rescue operation and evacuated the badly stranded people from the affected areas to safer places.

More than 5,700 volunteers of Al-Khidmat actively participated in rescue and relief operations in affected areas particularly in Peshawar, Chitral, Dir Lower, Dir Upper, Buner, Swat, Bajaur Agency, Gilgit-Baltistan and Landi Kotal.

Since the initial hours of the rescue and relief operations, Al-Khidmat had continued to serve the quake-stricken areas. More than 199,303 people had been affected and 25,094 houses had been partially or completely damaged by the quake. 5,700 volunteers from Al-Khidmat took part in rescue and relief operations and 65 ambulances were used to carry injured people to the hospitals. 45 relief trucks loaded with aid were dispatched to the quake-affected areas. 6,819 tents and Tarpaulins, and 4,230 food packages were also distributed among the affected. 2,683 blankets were also given to the deserving affected.
